Our  Skilled Nursing Facility, located in Kapahulu/Kaimuki, opened its doors June 5th, 2012.  As a small community (27-beds), specializing in dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, we are able to focus on individualized care and extensive programming and activities to address the behaviors associated with Alzheimer’s and dementia.  Maintaining independence, individuality and a sense of purpose are the primary goals of Manoa Cottage.

Offering

**Private rooms available, as well as semi-private (2 beds) and ward (3-bed) rooms**

Social Community

Resident centered activities are provided continuously during waking hours.  Studies have shown that the benefits of continuous interaction include reduced medication, reduced depression and anxiety, decreased behavioral issues and improved appetite.

The Club—for more active individuals

Club activities include brain-stimulating exercise, physical exercise, snacks and beverages, trivia, movies, and special programs such as singing or baking so that the individual interests and needs of each resident are met.

Namaste Care Program—for individuals with advanced dementia

The Hindu word “Namaste” can be translated to mean “to honor the spirit within.”  This program, developed by Joyce Simard, provides meaningful activities through a “loving touch” approach.  A peaceful, non-isolating environment is created to preserve dignity and tranquility even as a resident’s verbal and cognitive abilities decline.

Rehabilitation/Palliative Care/Hospice

Access to a full range of rehabilitation specialists, palliative care specialists, and hospice services is available on site.  We are in the process of applying for Medicare part A certification for these services, however at this time these services can be received through Medicare Part B or private contract.
